Uniform Policy: School Board Policy 5511 .
Dress and Grooming states, "Students shall come to school clean and appropriately groomed and dressed. Students whose personal attire or grooming distracts the attention of other students or teachers from their school work shall be required to make necessary alterations before entering the classroom or be sent home by the Principal."
Students who fail to meet the minimum acceptable standards of cleanliness and neatness as determined by the principal and as specified in this policy shall be subject to appropriate disciplinary measures including suspension.

Early Head start offers conprehensive servies for children and their families:
Quality Center programs, support services for children with special needs, developmental screenings, health and nutrition monitoring, praents involvement opportunities.
HEAD START offers comprehensive services for children and their families: full day educational program for three and four year old, child development screenings, health screenings, free breakfast and lunch, parent involvement opportunities, families of children with special needs are encouraged to apply.
The Head Start/Early Head start program is available for income elegible children with disabilities are fully-included (on a case by case basis) into the program and recieve a full range of development services. Proof of citizenships is not a requirement for enfollmentin Head Start. Music Education Program
Description:
Frederick Douglass Elementary is a unique music education program being implemented in partnership with the Overtown Music Project. In line with the history of the Overtown area, students are immersed in a jazz based learning environment. Classes include general music and small group instrumental classes on Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet and Trombone.
